Meredith and Lisa, two eighth grade girls, are 13 and run in different social circles. Lisa is a queen bee and Meredith and her friends just hope to pass each day invisible to the queen bee hive. One fateful afternoon their lives converge with a devastating outcome. While largely Meredith's story, Meredith's mother, Claire, also tells her family's story through the lens of a mother's eye. Perabo does a wonderful job of weaving the theme of blindness, seeing, and shadow into the complexities of the story making it a richer experience.
