This movie is, without fail, one of my new favourites. First and foremost, I have to address the cinematography; every shot is a work of art. There are undoubtedly a few uncomfortable shots—weird closeups and angles—but that’s definitely what they were aiming for. I am in love with the feel of this movie, too. It’s has a quaint countryside quiet feel, and it’s slow-paced enough to feel real and authentic. I find that most modern movies have lots of action and are very fast-paced, which really makes me lose interest. A movie is impressive to me when it’s slow, but captivating enough to hold your attention. (Which, need I say, is exactly what this movie did.) Jon Heder is brilliant in this film—as is the rest of the cast—and they managed to pull off such believable characters. Napoleon is such a genuine character. Of course, this depends on who you ask, but for me he was incredibly likeable. A lot of the lines here threw me back to memories I didn’t even know I had, like “Do you dare me to?” and “Sweet!” Overall, this movie was incredible, though it depends on your sense of humour. I can imagine that for some people it wouldn’t make any sense or would only be weird. 5/5 stars @aCardboardBox of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board This movie is a great comedy full of laughter and good times. The way it captures Napoleon’s “thinking he’s cool” personality while still being himself (others don’t agree) and his friends short, usually one word responses made for a great movie, this movie is full of hilarious skits, awkward silences, strange dancing and much more I would recommend this movie to people who enjoy random comedy with a decent amount of completely random humour with a little bit of heart and friendship in it, and I can now see why I sometimes hear people refer to it as a “classic”. Vote For Pedro! I rate this movie 4 out of 5 stars @TheCommissioner of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library This movie tells the story of a young teenager, Napoleon, who has a difficult time fitting in. After his strange uncle moves in, he seeks refuge outside of his house and decides to befriend the new kid Pedro - even though he speaks minimal English. Together, they then decide to run for class president. This quirky and awkward movie has a comedic take on what many teenagers actually experience in middle school and highschool when being the “odd man out.” Though particularly strange at times, the movie is overall fairly good and will make you laugh. I would rate it 3.5/5 stars and recommend it to formerly awkward teenagers. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
