Vacationland

True Stories From Painful Beaches

"Ladies and gentlemen, the white privilege comedy of John Hodgman." If you don't already like John Hodgman, erstwhile "Daily Show" contributor, sometime actor ("Bored to Death"), and catnip to the NPR/This American Life crow, his latest book probably won't change your mind. Unlike some of his previous books, which contained made up information masquerading as facts, "Vacationland" is a sort of memoir made up of short essays. Hodgman is droll, insightful, and self-deprecating, all appealing qualities to me, also an overeducated privileged white male, but I don't how well they'd connect with a general audience. The title takes is name from Maine's license plates.
