What a cute story! I was skeptical about the idea of a main character being a robot, but I think Peter Brown pulled it off very well. It was refreshing to read how Roz learned from the wild animals and became part of the island's ecosystem, where most "stranded on an island" stories consist of the main characters changing the island to better suit their needs. It was funny how Roz made decisions and worked out problems, another originality that made the robot theme effective. I think that because Roz adopted a young goose to care for, the story has undertones that relate to racism or acceptance, since it outlined the struggles that one may face when they adopt a new way of life in another place. Overall, I thought The Wild Robot was a great story with an important message for young children who are still learning how the world works. I thought it was impossible to make a robot relatable, but after reading through this book, I stand corrected. -@outdoorsman14 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
