Not a bad story, but a rather unbelievable plot. A a couple of things bugged me though. Many American authors (including the great Martha Grimes) who set their stories in the UK mention animals etc. which are not native, or use grammar which is not used in the UK. Maggie Hope referred to one of the ladies-in- waiting as having a laugh like a raccoon (!) and also mentioned the bells of St. George's Chapel being rung. During the war, all bells were silenced across the country, and were only to be rung in the event of invasion! Poor research, proof reading, and editing.
