The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games series. After Katniss and Peeta both win the Hunger Games in the previous novel, they take a “Victor’s Tour.” In the tour, the victor(s) must travel to all the districts and speak about the tributes from that district who were in the Hunger Games. During this tour Katniss and Peeta realize that the districts want to rebel against the Capitol. In order to show his power over the districts, President Snow changes the rules for the 75th Hunger Games. He decides that tributes from each district will be chosen from the past victors of that district. Katniss is selected as one of the tributes being the only female victor from District 12, and Peeta is chosen as the male tribute. Towards the end of the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss destroys the arena holding the games and she, Peeta, and two other tributes are taken to District 13. What I liked about this book is that during the Victor’s Tour and after the Hunger Games Suzanne Collins clearly explained how angry and rebellious the districts were becoming against the Capitol. I also liked the friendships built between tributes from various districts during the Hunger Games. What I disliked about this book is that I feel as though the author could have described the rebellions that happened in more of the districts.
