Add a CommentThe first in the series for Arly Hanks, the female police chief. Growing up in a small town, I recognize many of the characters who make up this backwoods town. The tone is light despite the murder and humor keeps the story moving quickly. Lots of fun to see if Arly can beat the state police and the county deputies in solving the numerous crimes happening in her town.
The first book in Joan Hess' Arly Hanks series. A Manhattan divorcee returns to her small Ozark Mountain hometown and takes the job of Police Chief. She is soon embroiled in mystery and murder. Not a cozy, but laced with humor and quirky characters throughout.
This is a fun book with a fun heroine but whoever proofread this book should be made to do it again until they get it right. So many errors. If you get upset over that sort of thing you might want to skip this book but if you can get past it the plot and characters are sort of fun.
