Readers will find this romp through a 44-floor hospital to be reminiscent of books by Roald Dahl and Shel Silverstein. The story begins with Tom ending up in the hospital after getting hit on the head by a cricket ball. He is sent up to the Children's Ward and the fun begins. At midnight most of the children sneak out and fulfill a dream each night for one of their fellow residents. Surprises and hilarity abound as they improvise to make these dreams come true. In the end we see the children putting others ahead of themselves and learning how to work together. Recommended.

Midnight Gang like all the other David Walliam books are amazing. when the clock strikes 12 everyone is fast asleep EXECPT for of course the midnight gang. they stay up late making everyone's dreams come true. Tom meets many different friends throughout the stay, sally, George, Robin, Amber, and the Porter.

A Great Books for Great Kids pick. An unusual fantasy set in a very strange hospital. Roald Dahl fans will enjoy the wild and irreverent cast of characters in this novel for 4th-6th graders.

I love this book because it is very good to teach people to be selfless, and realize how fortunate you may be. I say this because in this book there is this porter who doesn’t get treated nicely because he has a misshapen face, and Sally is super sick and may never live a big beautiful life which she always dreamed of. A good example of selflessness in this book is a kid named Tom. He gets hit in the head with a cricket ball so he wakes up in the hospital. This is where the story and adventure begins. At the hospital, he meets some other children, who go out at midnight to keep away from boredom. They have this thing called the midnight gang. In the midnight gang, they go out of the children’s ward and pursue their dreams. For example, one girl Amber has this dream to go to the North Pole and become a world-famous explorer. This mysterious man called a porter is also part of this gang, and is super friendly but has a misshapen face (the one I said before). He set up the freezer room to look like the North Pole so she could experience her dream. All of the kids have dreams and they get to do them in the midnight gang because of this kind man. Though one night, there is this big incident and they get caught by the hospital managers being out at midnight and are under a very close eye. Not only that, the porter gets fired. But another girl Sally in the children’s ward had never gotten to be part of the midnight gang because the members of this gang were worried she will slow them down since she is weak. Since Tom is very selfless, he feels very guilty about this and makes sure that this girl gets her dream come true before the morning, and it is a very big dream. You will find out if you read the book! (Come to think of it, I already said what the dream was in this comment). It’s tough because it’s one of the hardest dreams to pull off, and it is trying to do it being under close inspection by the whole every one of people working at the hospital. I would read this book if you haven't and if I were you!
