A Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and Named One of the Ten Best Books of the Year by the New York Times Book Review Almost a decade in the making, this much-anticipated grand history of postwar Europe from one of the world's most esteemed historians and intellectuals is a singular achievement. Postwar is the first modern history that covers all of Europe, both east and west, drawing on research in six languages to sweep readers through thirty-four nations and sixty years of political and cultural change-all in one integrated, enthralling narrative. Both intellectually ambitious and compelling to read, thrilling in its scope and delightful in its small details, Postwar is a rare joy.

If you want a bitter pill of relevant and insightful historical boredom, look no further. More facts and figures and numbers and percentages than you can shake a divining rod at. It drones on like a fascinating university lecture while infecting your brain with solid and painstakingly researched information. Any guess as to what happened after WWII is solidly rebuffed with Tony Judt's book.

43+hours of good narration...but, oh by CROM...all that freakin' time! Well, now at least I know what happened. But I can't for the life of me recall much of it.

Listen to George Friedman's Flash Points for a Cliff's Notes version of similar information.

P.S. Isn't there some kind of medal or something for finishing this?
