"Nothing is simple when you're thirty-fifth in line for the British crown, least of all marriage. But with love on their side, and plans to elope, Lady Georgiana Rannoch and her beau Darcy O'Mara hope to bypass a few royal rules... With Darcy driving me out of London in a borrowed motor car, I soon discover that he isn't planning to introduce me to the pleasures of sinning in secret--as I had hoped--but to make me his wife! Of course, there are some quibbles to be dealt with, such as my needing special permission from the King to marry a Roman Catholic and the question of where we might live after the honeymoon. Though he will inherit a title, Darcy is as broke as I am. Even his family's Irish castle has been sold to a rich American who now employes Darcy's father as a hired hand. Throwing these cares to the wind, nothing could deter us from our mission--except perhaps the news that my future father-in-law has just been arrested. It seems the rich American was murdered and Darcy's father had more than enough motive to do the deed. With the elopement postponed, we head for Ireland where he insists he's innocent, and it's up to us to prove it--for better or worse"-- Provided by publisher.

I love, love, love this series and the Ireland location is a marvelous new setting with all sorts of ways for Darcy and Georgie to get in and out of trouble. Such a wonderful cozy and a terrific mystery with lots of new characters to add a little spice and excitement.

I found this to be one of the most enjoyable titles in the series to date. Bowen's introduction of Darcy's Irish family is long-overdue and filled a big gap in his backstory. All the secondary characters (including the exotic Princess Zou Zou) were very entertaining. The ebullient Lady Georgie remains a delightful narrator as she shows signs of greater maturity... while fans of her Cockney maid Queenie will not be disappointed.

I like this series better than the Molly Murphy one.

This is the tenth installment in the delightfully frothy Her Royal Spyness mystery series. Lady Georgiana Rannoch is a minor member of the British Royal Family with a penchant for getting embroiled in murders. The 1930's setting is charmingly and convincingly used with real-life characters regularly popping in for cameo appearances. This series is fun, light and bubbly and the tenth book was true to form, with the Irish setting for this one providing a lovely variation. As mysteries, I find these books not very complex, but I love the characters and the setting and I appreciate the fact that these books occasionally make me laugh out loud. If you loved Downton Abbey, you might want to check out this series.

I am so glad Georgie did not marry Darcy in the latest adventure. She was being spirited away to a hasty wedding by playboy Darcy when he gets word of his father's involvement in a murder. Darcy leaves Georgie in the middle of nowhere to rush to his father's assistance. She decides to follow him against his wishes. They are soon joined by one of Darcy's rich girlfriends. This installment seems hasty and not thought out like the previous adventures. I hope Georgie does not marry this guy, she will end up with endless childbearing while he goes off in his own private adventures, just like he always has! One good thing is that Queenie is finally starting to find her place in life as a lady's maid. I liked the previous adventures much more.

This is another tasty slice of the British upper crust, as delightful and mannered as all the books that went before. The ongoing adventures of Georgiana Rannoch and the murders she seems to fall into make for a great read. Keep them coming please Rhys Bowen.
