Horribly written. Every chapter was the same, couldn’t get past the repetitive imagery. I rarely ever NOT finish a book and I just couldn’t finish this. Disappointed.

While somehow worse than the Wattpad version, this book was still a good read. For being a "realistic" novel a lot of the behaviors didn't line up with reality. Also, there's way too many grammatical errors and typos for this to be a final draft. Still worth your time if you like creepy stories and you can read fast.

The Cellar by Natasha Preston is a sad and moving story about a teenage girl and kidnapping. One night, Summer is walking alone at night and all of a sudden becomes taken by a man. Once the man drives her to his house, he explains that he just wants a family and she will stay in the basement cellar with four other girls. Each day that will cook and clean and may read and watch movies, they are never allowed to leave and everything must be clean. However, the man changes all of their names, now Summer is known as Lily along with the other girls Violet, Poppy and Rose. The man becomes easily angered and if something is wrong he will kill or punish. Can Summer stay alive until someone finds her? This book was very intense and it was something that I have never read before. I think it was a well written book for anyone over the age of fifteen. This book is for a mature audience due to death and rape. Rating- 4/5 stars. @readit12 of The Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board

I could not put this down. I had to find out what happened to the women. The story is creepy and makes you not want to walk home alone.

This book was amazing! Descriptive but not to descriptive. It feels so real and you can picture what Summer was feeling. Great book to read.

The cellar was a good book but some parts seemed unrealistic. For a realistic fiction book, it wasn't hitting the bar of reality at some points. However it was very interesting to read and I enjoyed reading it.

okay this is not the kind of book that is going to win major awards for its writing. However it was exciting and it was a real page turner. Not for people who are easily creeped out.
