My husband and I enjoyed this movie and learning about an unknown part of Churchill's life.

I found this a very interesting movie. Good acting, particularly Michael Gambon as Churchill. I enjoyed the part played by the nurse. She added interest to a stuffy and somewhat dysfunctional family.

Really slow, terribly boring.

A moving depiction of a little-known post-war episode in the life of an amazing man.

Aired on PBS in the spring of 2016. An excellent personal look at Churchill's final months. Well done!

I do not know much about Winston Churchill, besides him being P.M. during the war. This film is interesting because it portrays him in 1953, he suffers a stroke that is followed by another one, which is more severe. He is lying on his death bed, only to be surrounded by cagey politicians, bickering family members. He has a supportive young nurse (a fictional character in the film) who is very dedicated and provides not only care and kindness but also inspiration and hope. Churchill tells her, "growing old is not for cowards." He was 78 when his stroke happened, but he seemed to have a determined soul and spirit that sustained him, as well as a true love for his wife who also sustained him and supported him. The film is rather slow moving since he is sickly, but very interesting and worth watching if you have any interest in history. Michael Gabon is terrific as Churchill and really carries the film. It was also filmed on location at Chartwell where Churchill lived in the country.
