Deep Blue
Large Print - 2016
"Doc Ford has long lived a double life. This time, it may finally have caught up to him when a recent operation has more complications than he anticipated and he ends up bringing those complications back to the small community he calls home. Now no one there is safe--least of all, Ford himself"-- Provided by publisher.
On a moonless night on Sanibel Island, Florida, marine biologist Marion "Doc" Ford carefully watches a video of a hooded man executing three hostages. The man is an American working with ISIS, and in the next few days, it'll be Ford's job, as part of his shadowy second life, to make sure he never kills anybody else again. But a lot can go wrong in a few days, and Ford has no way of knowing that not only will the operation prove to be a lot more complicated than he has anticipated, but that he'll end up bringing those complications back with him to the small community of boaters, guides, lovers, and friends in Dinkin's Bay, where he's long made his home.

Kinda weird, didn't make sense in a lot of places, had a couple of things going but none were very interesting. One of those that you power through hoping it gets better.
I gave up half way thru, just couldn't get into it. Maybe I need to read some of his earlier books to get excited about the characters.
At first, I had some difficulty following what was going on and getting involved in this mystery. Not to worry, I realized I can't always keep up with a good author. I have read all of Randy White's books and this one is the best and smartest of them all !!!
Not one of my favorites. Pretty average. 6 of 10 for me.
