Ranger is a golden retriever who has been trained as a search and rescue dog. He can’t pass the test so he is not an official search and rescue dog. It’s those darn squirrels, he can’t help himself he has to chase them when he sees them. One day when Ranger was digging in the back yard, he found an old metal box. The box started humming, then Ranger was transported to another time and place. He landed in the year 1850 with a family that was heading west on the Oregon Trail. Ranger didn’t know what else to do so he followed this new family, the Abbotts, hoping that he would eventually find his home. Ranger used his search and rescue training and was able to help the family in some really dangerous situations.
