An absolute joy of a film. Pure whimsy and a treat for all ages.

This film captures the essence of childhood, a time when play-filled days seem to stretch on forever, adult concerns are mysterious, and magic is perfectly plausible. The sisters' relationship is realistic: they are competing with each other one minute, then the next minute they are best friends. Totoro is adorable, but Catbus steals the show.

The movie “My Neighbor Totoro” is a descent anime movie although I believe that it lacked interest. “My Neighbor Totoro” is not a horrible movie although it could have been better with more interesting events. The movie includes some fantasy characters such as Totoro and the other spirits living in the big tree, who seem to be neither fantasy or reality. The plot of this movie was extremely boring with a new family moving into an old abandoned house and finding mysterious creatures such as Totoro, and becoming friends with them. This movie expresses less emotion and mood, however there is some humor and joy. I personally believe that this movie is for those who love adventure, since this movie is practically about the family’s adventure in a big tree which resulted in finding Totoro and other spirits. I believe that this movie is enjoyable for all ages, just like Hayao Miyazaki’s other famous movies. The events of this movie could have been more interesting, otherwise were related to the actual plot. Overall “My Neighbor Totoro” is a decent movie to watch especially with family. Rating 3/5

Mei, the younger sister, was my favorite character. She was so precious and funny! This movie made me feel like a child again.

Is it even possible to watch this movie without getting all warm and fuzzy inside?

My Neighbor Totoro is a brilliant classic, beloved by young children in Japan, and with a faithful following here too. For me personally, it's not nearly as beloved, but maybe that's because I've grown cynical.

Miyazaki's appreciation of miraculous possibilities and childhood visions is what drives Totoro.

Sweet, charming, simple, and innocent. This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a child and continues to be one well into adulthood. Miyazaki can spin a tale that nails what its like to be a child and fall in love with the hidden magic in the world around you.

This is an amazing movie- very sweet and interesting, and also sure to be liked by everyone! I highly recommend it, especially for sleepovers or movie nights when you just want to watch fantasy or something along those lines. Studio Ghibli is amazing, so I recommend seeing the other movies by it!

Sexual Content: I don't know if you would count this, but a father and daughters are shown taking a bath together. It's not meant to be sexual, but they are naked (you don't see anything private, and it's not graphic; the more substantial nudity is covered with soap bubbles, etc.).
