Summary
Add a SummaryCelaena Sardothien is a teenage assassin in a corrupt kingdom with a cruel and unfair ruler. She travels throughout the land discovering many unexpected allies and friends, suffering severe losses, and finding her purpose. This story follows Celaena Sardothien from her teenage to young adult life in spectacular crystal clear detail. She faces many trials, but through everything she perseveres and deals with the tasks thrown at her.
Sarah J. Maas the author of this book does such an excellent job of pulling you into another world that you will find yourself reading for hours without even noticing that any time has passed.
Adaraln's Assassin was the most feared killer in the world--until she was captured and sent to a prison labor camp to rot. But when the Prince needs a skilled fighter to battle in the royal court and become the King’s Champion, he pulls the assassin out of prison only to find she is a blonde 18-year-old girl. Celaena is as beautiful as she is deadly and she jumps at the chance to earn her freedom. Her mission seems straightforward: be the last (wo)man standing at the end of the competition. What she doesn’t expect is to develop feelings for the two men protecting her and to make an unlikely ally in a princess. Sarah J. Maas’ debut is stunning from beginning to end. Throne of Glass stands-out because of its memorable setting (there is actually a castle made of glass), strong characters, and continuous heart-stopping action sequences. Celaena is a heroine as memorable for her fighting abilities as she is for her quick wit and large heart and I can’t wait to see her grow and change throughout this exciting new series.

This is one of my favorite series, and while book 1 really hooked me, it's not even close to the twists and turns the series takes in the future. It's in this novel where we meet Celaena Sardothien and some other key characters Chaol and Dorian. The plot of the story centers around Celaena being taken from her prison and being brought to the king in order to win a challenge that could win her her freedom and secure her a job as the King's Assassin. The events are a bit predictable, but it really kicks off the series and the next books won't be what you predicted.
It’s a little slow at first but KEEP READING THE SERIES it’s really good trust me!!!
God I just love this series. I know it's kind of trashy but there's something about SJM's writing that's addicting. Do I recognise the flaws in the story? Yes. Do I care? No.
In this book the shifting nature of Celaena's capabilities isn't as obvious because of her recovery from Endovier and she's still building up her skills again.
I also think the love triangle is slightly forced but it also not so evident in this book as Celaena is mostly focused on surviving the challenge to become champion and live another day. Which I mean... fair enough! Also, I am against playboys suddenly reconsidering their lifestyle for one girl (Yes, that means you Dorian!).
One of my favourite things that this series does pretty well is have Celaena remain very feminine but also quite capable of killing you, one doesn't negate the other. She loves her food and her fashion and ogling the men that she is also quite capable of killing.
I love her relationship with Nehemia and SJM did Nehemia wrong in just about every way but mostly by you know... but more of that in the next book. Nehemia is an awesome female friend (something I'm glad Celaena gets more of). They have their fights but they always end up back on each others side where they belong. And if you think about it (sly wink) they would the perfect friends for each other.
I just think this is the tip of the pretty amazing iceberg and each series only gets better from here.
Great series, but be aware that after book 2, there is explicit sexuality, which, frankly, I wish she had written in less graphic detail. If she hadn't done that, she would have had a broader audience since it makes it inappropriate for anyone under 17 or 18 or leaving younger readers saying "yuck." Too bad since there is a need for strong, smart, female protagonists for middle school readers.
It defiantly sent shivers down my spine. Loved this book! Can't wait to read the next one.
Throne of Glass is a stunning story of the assassin Celaena Sardothien. Beautifully written by Maas, 18 year old Celaena is taken away from prison and brought to the King to win the challenge. Should she succeed, she will win her freedom and a paid job as the King’s Assassin. As she attempts to win her freedom, she attempts to sort out her love life, feeling conflicted between the Crown Prince and the Captain of the Guard. This is one of my favorite series and the twists and turns, the mysteries, and the emotion packed into each book is terrific. I absolutely love this series and recommend reading it.

Celeana, an assassin, was brought to the Crown Prince of Adarlan after spending a year at a prison, Endovier. She was offered a deal which allowed her to be the kings champion for four years and then she would be granted freedom. However to win her spot as the kings champion she must first win a competition against other assassins. Despite her hatred for the king she accepted the offer and began training to get past the elimination rounds. During her time at the castle, Celeana made both friends and enemies who either supported her or attempted to destroy her. Prince Dorian showed interest in her, Captain Westfall pushed her to succeed, and Princess Nehemia became a close friend. Meanwhile, a mysterious murder was on the loose.
This book is so amazing! A bit slow at the beginning but it gets much better. Especially for people who love Cassandra Clare, its a huge page turner that you cant look away from!
I don't want to write a long summary, but I think that the book was amazing!! I definitely recommend!!!!
