Add a CommentFirst book of the Heechee Saga and perhaps my most favorite science fiction book of all time. From world creation to character development to the plot twist to the science, everything is done completely and with care. I've read this book a number of times and am always fully immersed. Even now when I finish I say to myself "Oh, wow!" And while the first of the series is the best, the rest are on my "all time great" list as well.
A worthy old fashioned science fiction novel by Frederick Pohl. The skipping between sessions with a robot psychiatrist and actual plot moving forward is the only criticism I have for this book because I finally just skipped over the psychiatry. Once I learned to skip all that it was a fine read.
This novel won the Hugo, Nebula and Campbell awards. It's a masterpiece of science fiction. A must read if you consider yourself SF fan. Character devlopment is excellent with just the right amount of hard science without overwhelming the casual reader. A WINNER!
