I just finished reading this story. What a disappointment. I found it very disjointed and full of inaccuracies. I understand that the character was eccentric, for want of a better word, and that his views may differ from reality, but I found so much that was unbelievable that it was distracting. I felt no sympathy for him or his pen pal, and could find no romantic prose in his words, only arrogance and pomposity. Aside from providing 200 pages of graphic pornography, I couldn't find any purpose for it's existence. I'm glad that others felt the read worth their while. Sadly I was not one of them.

As difficult as this book was to read, it was very hard to put down. A.M. Homes manages to make her audience sympathize with the pedophile. though poetically written from beginning to finish, it is very disturbing and difficult to read.

Never read anything quite like this. Written from the point of view of an incarcerated pedophile. Highly disturbing. Very graphic details. Had to put it aside several times and go outside for a breath of fresh air.

When an imprisoned pedophile is drawn into an erotically charged correspondence with a 19-year-old suburban co-ed, the two reveal--and revel in--their obsessive desires. Part romance, part horror story, "The End Of Alice" is at once unnerving, repellent, and seductive.
