Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. I give this a 10. Fantastic from start to finish, Morgan Freeman was amazing. A must see movie.

An inspiring movie that develops a theme by example rather fast paced empty talk. Clint Eastwood really crafts great movies, too bad he never figured out that he is not at his best speaking to an empty chair.

Inspiring but predictable plot (duh?). Too bad they didn't explain (just a little) of rugy rules, etc...

I'm going to buy this movie, if only to watch it anytime I want!
Great, inspiring performance by Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon held his own with the rugby team.
"Forgiveness starts here, reconciliation starts here", on his first day on the job! Remarkable stuff.
Nelson "Mandiba" Mandela was a true role model and his example should be followed by those wanting to live life well.

Performances from Damon and Freeman were really good.

I think they overstated the impact on SA attitudes a lot respecting the game of rugby AND the cohesion created.

There were 2 errors at Robbin Island: [1] all of the tour guides are former prisoners of the jail, [2] the cells had NO chairs & prisoners were not allowed paper or anything to write with. They also were not allowed to speak, even whisper. They weren't allowed to sing to themselves.

Mandela's forgiveness was not exaggerated.

A wonderful movie (slow moving) that depicts how one man can change a nation and affect the world. Be patient and watch the unfolding insight, faith and hope a great man had. Inspiring.
Recommend it!

If you are looking to be inspired, Invictus is the movie for you. Morgan Freeman delivers a spot on performance as the great Nelson Mandela. Freeman, always the wise old sage is no exception in this role, playing a father figure to a healing nation. Just when you think the cultural, social, racial, economic, and political divides in the world can't get any worse, Invictus reminds us that there is still good, there are still great leaders, and still hope for the future. What Invictus does best is inspire.

It is not a perfect movie. As far as stories go, it is short on conflict. Sure, it's a retelling of true events, so we can cut it some slack, but it seems that the racial divide in South Africa (which serves as the film's Antagonist) could have been given more weight. It feels like (and what does this author know, he wasn't there) the race issue was Hollywood whitewashed. Did the slide from ugly hatred and divisiveness to unity really happen so smoothly without setbacks? Why not put in a setback to create a little more tension, and thus make the final scene more satisfying? On another note, Matt Damon's character could have had a bit more depth, though Damon does a great job working the material he is given. Finally, a movie about rugby could have done a better job of explaining to the uninitiated exactly how rugby works.

Overall, Invictus delivers a solid and moving historical depiction that will give you the warm fuzzies. Not perfect in its delivery, but well worth watching.
