This book has just the kind of heroine I like - someone who is a bit incompetent but learns and changes throughout the course of the book. There is also another main female character who is cool and strong. I found the plot very interesting. It's a fantasy story about a princess who runs away from home, only to join a quest to save her whole nation. I liked how the author had multiple points of view and spent a lot of time on all of the different characters and their stories. Normally I wouldn't like it, so I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't bother me in this book. There is a sequel - Northern Queen - but I haven't read it yet. Recommended for anyone who likes fantasy with a female lead.
