Add a CommentSuspect is a twisty tale with a lot of action! On the whole, O’Laughlin comes across as likable, although I struggled when he acted in a manner I considered to be unprofessional and out of character. That happened a bit too often for my liking. Very early in the story, Joe is in a downward spiral. He's diagnosed with Parkinson's. He's suspected of murder. While on the run from the law, he is suspected of even more murders. When Joe turns detective in order to save his skin, however, I started really enjoying the story. He’s both desperate and becomes drastically competent. Are his livelihood, his family, his home and his life destroyed? You'll have to read it to find out!
Joe, a psychologist in a happy marriage/family, is diagnosed with Parkinson's. It's the first step in his life unravelling. His best friend covets his wife, his plumbing is a disaster, and he seems to be a suspect in several murders. This was an intelligent, exciting, well-written thriller, with exceptionally interesting characters. It was the first I've read by this author, but he has several others and I'll definitely be trying those too.
Ahh, that wonderful feeling of reading faster and faster towards the end of a book, wanting to find out what happens. Ahh, that wonderful feeling of finishing a good book and knowing it’s the first in a series. A very compelling plot, although I, normally never one to solve the mystery, had suspicions about the bad guys before the outcome was revealed. Now, which one is next?
This is the 2nd book I have tried of Michael Robotham. This one featured a psychologist, who also has just found out he has Parkinson's disease. Naturally he is married & doesn't know how to communicate with his loved ones. This makes him another flawed hero. Naturally one of his clients frames him for murder because he hates him & wants revenge. He is the only one who see's this set up & sets forth to prove his innocence.
"Lost" is also named "The Drowning Man"
the library has this.
Very good series featuring clinical psychologist Joe O'Laughlin. He is very bright and likable, and recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Opl does not have all the books in the series but you can order "LOST" through the interlibrary loan department.
Good story, I liked this one. 7 of 10 for me.
