Surprising change of characters this season, with few of the original cast now left and weird or nonexistent explanations for the departures. I do like the new characters , however, and sorry to see the series end.
The series has been a mixed bag, but still engaging TV.

If you love BallyK I would recommend stopping at season 5. Though some old characters remain in this season there are many new ones and to be honest they look like what Americans would think of Eire, it's like Oirish night at Epcot!

There are no real explanations as to the new cast, it's like they were dropped in and the audience expected to believe them!

I think Kieran Prendeville was running it of steam in season 5. There were few credible plot lines but the quality of acting pulled it through. This seasons plot lines are pure fantasy and the new actors brought in simply no where near the standards of the departed ones.
The only saving grace is the new Father who is a strong enough actor to pull off terrible scripts.

I love this 6th season. I enjoy all the characters and am very pleased with the Father Sheahan character and his interaction with the villagers. He has substance and maintains a quiet sense of humor which I find delightful. I am so glad I requested this season. I am so sorry to see the end of Ballykissangel! Hmmm.....wonder if there will be change of heart and another season of Ballykissangel will be done. One can only hope........

I read some of the comments of Season 6 and debated whether I should watch it, but I ended up putting a hold on it. While I loved all seasons of the show, I have to disagree with spillie. I thought this was the funniest season EVER. I usually did a little laugh here or there on the other seasons, but Season 6, I found to be hilarious and I laughed a lot. I wish that they would of said what happened to Orla, because along with Father Aiden, she disappeared, but unlike Father Aiden having a reason to leave, none was given for Orla's departure or if something happened in S5 to her, I just don't remember. I thought this was the best season of all 6 seasons, and don't know why. I'm just really sorry that they decided at the last minute not to renew the series because they sort of let it just drop. In conclusion, I was sceptical about the new priest and how it was going to be with new characters, but I found it to be the best and funniest season ever produced. Don't know if it had to do with Brian Quigley disappearing and allowing Liam and Donal to blossom more, or what, but it was the funniest season I've seen from this show.

What a disappointing conclusion to this once charming series.
