Truly great read. Gene Wolfe has the rare ability to create new worlds and draw us into them. Can't believe how imaginative this work is. Is set in the far future (the sun is red, so it is dying) and full of references to our time and time after us. Great story about a man who is raised as a torturer, his banishment and what comes after.
