I love all of the Flavia De Luce novels! The writing is engaging and keeps interest with lots of detail about science and the era, without slowing down the story. This one focuses on children's authors with an interesting set of twists.

Finally Flavia is back from America and back to doing what she does best, somehow she's always the first to discover a body and yet another murder! Flavia is the woman for the job as she is on another case and tracking down a trail of…

JOANNE'S MYSTERY PICKS How wonderful it is to have Flavia back in England after her “interesting” year at Miss Bodycote’s Female Academy in Toronto! None is more pleased than Flavia, herself. However, her pleasure is put on hold when…

My daughter and I began the Flavia De Luce series by Alan Bradley about a decade ago. Flavia appeals to teens and adults, as a very intelligent detective under most unusual circumstances. I'm delighted to be catching up, by reading the…

This book, selected for it's title when I was browsing through the large print section, turned out to be a very lucky find. I've already put holds on the first 3 books of the series. It's delightful, entertaining reading. The…

Why is it taking so long to get this book. It shows 6 copies available. When can I expect it?

These convenient corpses are, in my opinion, McGuffins. I believe Alan Bradley is a genius. The real story is never about the murders Flavia solves in her own way.

The mystery contained in this book may be solved by Flavia but I am finding the mysteries surrounding Flavia's family and Buckshaw are becoming more perplexing. I wonder where the series is heading?

Flavia has returned from Canada, and of course finds herself immersed in another mystery….or rather, she continues the practice of sticking her nose in places it doesn’t belong. Personal loss make this a heartbreaking story, but even with…

My love for Flavia never wavers, but I'm losing interest with Bradley's plots and the way several characters are unfolding. I was really disappointed with the ending of this chapter of Flavia's life, and do not think I will continue.

Not my favorite- odd that Flavia is old beyond her years and yet was not allowed to see her father before he passed away. Character aliases were confusing and there were many subplots.

Reading Alan Bradley's Flavia de Luce series is like eating dessert. Once you finish it you wish you had taken more time enjoying it but you just couldn't help gulping it down.

Not my favourite in this delightful series. I found it slow to start and seemed to be the "same old same old" with nothing really new. Just ok for me. I found it a bit strange she didn't visit her father during his illness.

Flavia is back like she was in the first book. My interest in her has been restored. Absolutely remarkable how the author can use so many cliches and connections to other literary works so effortlessly. I wonder if he speaks like he writes.

I found myself not enjoying this much to start but as I was reading it grew on me. Maybe I just needed to re acquaint myself with Buckshaw and Bishop's Lacey. Flavia is back from Canada but we're right back in Buckshaw, not as much…
