Great series I have watched several times now. If you enjoy all things Italian, you will love this. The food, lifestyle, locations, elegant people and clothes, the old villas and scenery are wonderful. As is just listening to the dialogue…

The prosecutor can see some evidence that the police aren't allowed to see.

Humor is incompetent police. (Few police as after WWII few children from few adults left.) 4 to 6: Glad ordered more as this disk is badly scratched. Only misses 2 minutes at a time, but several times.

He's just so... watchable. And smart. And sexy. Great in-depth stories without resorting to the obligatory car chase. It's about the story - not relying on graphic and ghoulish murder details. Characters are great - scenery spectacular.…

If you want to learn to swear in Italian - grandissimi stronzi! - and accomplish the accompanying rude gestures, as well as many, many OK gestures, this is the series for you. Plus, they are lots of fun, filled with surprising humor, and…

I can't say enough good things about this show and can't understand how anyone could possibly dislike it, but to each his own I guess! Camilleri's books are works of art in the mystery genre, and his background in television assured that…

The detective breaks my heart (joking) as he finally betrays his girlfriend by cheating with another woman (Angelica). Who, naturally, as the evil temptress, winds up in the hospital. I'll probably continue to watch this series, keeping in…

Detective Montalbano solves his crimes in the town of Vigata. The scenery of the Sicilian city of Ragusa is beautiful and peaceful. I like all of his detective series.

One of my favorite detective stories. It has the Italian flavor, but it also has a real story in each one of the episodes, not the usual car chase criminal stories that are so prevalent now. Each episode is markedly different, and some…

If you don't mind reading subtitles, this series is great to watch. The details on the bib record give a good summary. I've always wanted to visit Sicily and now I have a yearning for those sun-kissed shores. The intro scenes are…

Shot on location in the Province of Ragusa, Sicily, Italy ! A respectful portrayal of modern Sicilian life and customs surrounds every story. The descriptions of the local foods is much better in the books by this author but he…

There are two listings (sets of 2 discs), one is ep 23/24 and 25/26 that appear to be the same item but are different--this needs to be changed so we know which is which!

Seems that it is a norm in Italian police dramas that the detective would have a sexual relationship with the suspect/witness.

Salvo Montalbano gives a wonderful portrayal of a Sicilian cop. Intelligent, impatient, bellicose, tender all wrapped in a sexy package. Women will eat him up.

My husband and I are big Montalbano fans for various reasons: the dialog is often hysterically funny, the settings are rich, the characters original, the social commentary sharp - but mostly because there is usually something profound…
